There’s definitely big musical overlap but at least from the hxc side theres still a big emphasis on separating oneself from the metal community irl, this might also just be my circles tho. Tend to be very contrarian lmao
Might also be bc theres underlying social differences that are being mapped onto this divide to some extend? Like an urban-rural distinction, where hardcore seems to be mostly an urban phenomenon, and rural areas basically only have metal subculture.
